School Museum

The Museum – is the second school book that reflects the lives of many generations who have walked through the halls and hallways of the school.

The idea of ​​locating a museum within the school has been on the minds of many generations of teachers and principals. The materialization of such an exhibition belonged to Professor Dascălu Gh. – director of the Normal School from 1974 to 1989. It was an initiative based on the existence of documents and objects that had belonged to graduates of the school. The museum operated in the hall next to the school secretariat between 1981 and 1986.

In 1993, the director of the unit – Prof. Univ. Dr. Ion Popescu Argeșel – a graduate of the school, has the initiative to create a history museum and, in addition, a folk art museum.

The Golești Museum also contributed to the creation of the museum by donating some display cases. The objects that were part of the collection were donated by former graduates, teachers, and students of the school.

The museum was organized next to the school amphitheater so that it could be seen by everyone who visited the school.

The museum’s collections were organized in two rooms:
1. In the first room – the history of the school was presented2. In the second room – a section of folk art from Muscel, with objects used in various household activities, household use, folk costumes, etc.
The museum was also created with the contribution of the school librarian, Mrs. Mărcușanu Cornelia.

Today, after the school renovation works, at the initiative of Director Radu Gheorghe, the museum is organized in another location – Building C, first floor and benefits from a large hall in which there are collections of objects, photographs, textbooks, books, paintings with various promotions, catalogs, etc., busts of some school directors, diplomas.

Also within the exhibition are presented photographs of the works of Prof. Univ. Dr. Radu Adrian – sculptor of monuments located in Câmpulung or other localities in the county. Some sculptures are also located in the schoolyard.

An important collection of the museum is in the folk art section.

Since the school building is a historical monument, it also needed a representation of the activity of preparing the human soul and conscience.

Dumitru Almaș, referring to this aspect, mentioned:

Nothing is more beautiful and noble than the job of a teacher or educator, a gardener of human souls, a guide to the purest, most energetic and warm souls.
